Dr. Rajesh Rajan
Dr. Rajesh Rajan, founder and president of the Indian Association of Clinical Cardiologists (IACC), has been elected to the Specialist Board in Cardiology under the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). His addition comes at a time when the board is undertaking a comprehensive review of postgraduate cardiology training in India.

The Specialist Board convened on August 6, 2025, to evaluate proposed updates to the cardiology curriculum and discuss ways to strengthen the examination framework. Key focus areas included integrating emerging clinical practices, adapting to rapid advancements in cardiovascular technology, and aligning training standards with contemporary patient-care requirements.
NBEMS officials noted that the board will continue its deliberations over the coming months as it works toward a modernised, future-ready cardiology education structure. Dr. Rajan’s election is expected to bring additional clinical depth and academic insight to these reform efforts.

In a separate recognition of his contributions to cardiac science, Dr. Rajan was recently honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Cardiac Research Award for his exceptional work in the field.
