Apollo Home Healthcare Launches Senior Geriatric Services in Navi Mumbai

Apollo Home Healthcare, in association with Apollo Hospitals, has introduced its Senior First Geriatric Program in Mumbai to provide customised home-based care for elderly citizens. The initiative is being implemented simultaneously with Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai (AHNM).

India’s elderly population will be 319 million by 2050, with close to 75% of the elderly already suffering from chronic diseases and almost half of them having mobility issues. Still, there is limited access to geriatric-orientated care.

To address this challenge, Apollo Hospitals has launched a Senior First Geriatric Clinic at AHNM. The clinic will offer hospital-based evaluation and treatment with geriatric specialists, while Apollo Home Healthcare will provide recovery and chronic care services to patients in their home setting. Preventive, rehabilitative and long-term care services will be offered – much like specialised mother-and-child healthcare  programs.

Originally launched in Bengaluru, Apollo’s geriatric program is a comprehensive set of services – comprehensive evaluation, chronic disease management, fall and frailty prevention programs, mobility and balance training, nutrition and dietary counselling, cognitive health support and mental wellness services. In Mumbai, all this is now being taken to the homes of patients.

The program also provides a Wellness and Active Care Package, centred on the Clinical Frailty Scale, integrating hospital visits with home care, nutrition counselling, physiotherapy, and health manager support. Globally, such models have reduced hospital admissions by up to 50% in older adults.

Apart from clinical services, seniors will be provided with post-surgery care, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and concierge hospital navigation support. Integration with Apollo Homecare and Apollo 24/7 provides continuity through nursing, diagnostics, physiotherapy, medication management and teleconsultation.
